Costco

Yesterday the boys and I went to Costco to get Marcie some flowers for Valentine's day. We went about lunch time and they had a ton of carts out giving out samples - or as Blake calls them "samplies". The boys wanted to go around getting a taste of all the samples. After I picked up the roses, I gave each of the boys a rose petal so that they could smell them. I look over and Landon is trying to balance his on his nose - I turn to Blake and he is spitting his rose petal out of his mouth. He said he didn't like that sample.

He's Just Not That Into You

So, I went with my great friend, Laura, on Friday night to see this movie. I had pretty low expectations for it because, well, because you just never know! I was so surprised with how much I enjoyed this movie. It was a chick flick, for sure. I'm glad I went to see it with Laura because Jeff would have been a little bored during the slower parts. However, if you're in the mood to go to the movies, I would totally recommend it. It's a really sweet, funny story!!!!

Chicken with Aromatic Sauce

Jeff and I made this yummy recipe of his mom's tonight. We wanted to post it for anyone who doesn't already have it because it is very good, very healthy, and very easy to make.

3 lbs of chicken, we use boneless, skinless thighs and breast tenderloins or sometimes drumsticks
4 Tbsp sugar
about 1/2 inch of ginger root, grated
5 or 6 green onions, cut into 1 inch sections
2 dried chilis
sauce: 4 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp vinegar, 1 Tbsp hoisan sauce, dash of black pepper, 1 Tbsp chicken broth
2 Tbsp salad oil

Heat salad oil in wok. Add sugar. When sugar melts and caramelizes, add chicken. Stir for 1 to 2 minutes.
Add chilis, ginger, and scallions. Add sauce. (Sometimes we double the sauce mixture.) Stir to coat all of the chicken well. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, then add 1 cup of water or chicken broth. Reduce heat and continue to cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Serve over rice.

Blake

Last week in Primary, Blake's class must have been learning about Joesph Smith's leg surgery when he was young. However, what Blake remembered was a little different than the real story. He remembered a few details, but others were a little distorted.

Earlier in the week, I was laying with Blake and he told me that a long time ago there was a little boy who had a hurt leg. Then they had to chop the boy's leg off and his Mom had to leave the room. Then they gave him some alcohol and it made him feel much better.

I told him the real story again, but it was amusing what he recalled.
